    KDE apps crashing

Ever since I've been using KDE4 I have noticed that KDE specific apps appear to crash and I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences KDE apps (or in fact any apps) crashing when running them within KDE.

It is very rare for me, even if I am playing with development releases.

No problem of crashing apps on my 14.04 installation.

hmm I'm just wondering if it's the way I'm installing the distribution. A few months ago when I was using Debian 7 with KDE 4.8 one of the apps that was reporting to crash whenever I re-booted was knotify then there were apps like kmail and konquerer that would just close down without warning. On my current KDE system using 4.13 I've had rekonq crashing on me.

I have also got a XFCE running on another pc but I've not experienced any GTK apps crash on that.

        Very strange.

a few versions ago I had trouble with Amarok crashing, but that doesn't seem to be the case now (fingers crossed). I do like the app.

Rekonq doesn't work well with some/many modern websites. That said, you haven't told us if it crashes on launch or when accessing a website.

Rekonq (on this machine) causes a segmentation fault usually when trying to access some web sites.

I can say on one of my updates from 13.10 to 14.04 the system crashed on a few apps like Gwenview. What I did to resolve that was to rename ~/.kde to something else and rebooted. The system recreated the ~/.kde folder. Yes I had to reconfigure everything like I had it originally but the crashing of those apps quite. I assumed it to be a config file that was incompatible. Hope I'm not off base from what you were asking.

The rendering engine -- libqtwebkit4 -- is old, buggy, and unmaintained, according to the Rekonq developer. It's likely that we won't see a new Rekonq until Qt finishes porting Blink, as the developer further explains that a version of WebKit for Qt5 is already dead.

I have decided to start using Sea Monkey as it uses Netscape's Gecko engine. As a result of this I would like to offer Rekonq free to a new home. If you would like Rekonq please let me know but they may be a charge for postage and packaging.
