Can't Add Widgets

Hi,
I'm running KDE on Ubuntu (installed via apt-get install kubuntu-desktop) and I can't seem to add any widgets to the desktop. I can bring up the Add Widgets pane at the bottom of the screen, but none of my clicks within it register - even the close button doesn't work. The cursor starts in the search field, and that seems to work, but I'm not sure how to add them without being able to click.

You need to drag them from the bar to the desktop or panel. Clicking isn't enough.

first: right click on desktop and "unlock the widgets"..
then: search a widget and double click the widget which you want to put on desktop.
