    Killing gnome

    Hi,

For Maverick Meerkat, I decided to do a clean install and also try gnome again for the first time since I switched to KDE 4.2. Not long after, I decided that I missed KDE too much, so installed kubuntu-desktop.

Everything is pretty much fine, but I'm finding that a few gnome things are still loading when I log in. The most annoying seems to be gvfs, which prevents KDE from unmounting flash drives that I plug in (it complains that they're in use elsewhere, and killing all gvfs-related processes stops that from happening).

Does anyone know of the correct, clean way to prevent such gnome services from loading?

    Thanks!

    Systemsettings > Startup and Shutdown

Odinary programs and scripts are listed under "Autostart". Startup services are listed under "Service Manager".
Disable any unwanted Gnome stuff there.
