Chrome PC goes on sale June 15th

Here are links to both the Samsung and Acer models:

After looking over the specs I like the Acer version more. What do you think?

It looks like Samsung worked harder on power efficiency -- their battery life spec is substantially better. Maybe they sacrificed the HDA audio, for example. Which was probably a smart move -- those little netbooks can't support a decent pair of speakers anyway. I have a Toshiba NB205 netbook, with the Intel Atom N280 CPU, and it is a sweet little machine, given the limitations. With a SSD swapped in rather than the hdd that it came with, it boots Debian Linux from the boot menu to the KDE greeter in about 16 seconds. One of the most important factors for these little guys is the keyboard. I paid an extra $50 to get the "island-style" keyboard, on which you can feel clearly the separating spaces between the keys. The ones that have the keys up against each other are harder for me to operate because I'm always catching the edge of the key adjacent to the one I really want, thus injecting an unwanted character in the line.

But they're both nice units -- if you want to listen to music through a headset on your flight to Europe, maybe Acer with better sound would be the choice.

If the Acer Chrome's 1080p HDMI is anything like my wife's Acer 521 HDMI then it is going to give a beautiful picture on an HD TV. My wife's can stream a movie to HDMI seamlessly ... no pausing and spinning bubbles while the cache fills back up.

The 8 hr battery of the Samsung is appealing, but if the Acer used for Chrome is like the Acer my wife has, it will be a good box. No doubt Samsung will be as well.

Does anyone know if any of the upcoming ARM chromebooks will have a hard drive? I see they could have an SD card but I don't think that would be as fast as a hard drive. I am looking for an ARM netbook that will run Kubuntu. Dual booting with Chrome OS might be OK.- Thanks

          Hi Greygeek...

Unless I missed something in the links you provided, I would have to wait to give you an answer until I found out who the board and chipset manufacturers are.
