    Incredibly easy motorola droid tethering

    Hi

I just realized that after the latest android upgrade in my Motorola Droid phone, a "tethering" option was available in the System Settings. This is what I did:

    1. Connect the USB cable between my kubuntu notebook and the phone
    2. Activated the Tethering option on the phone

That's it. That's freakin' it. I was connected to the internet automatically within seconds. Of course I got a pop up from my provider (Verizon/USA) explaining that I need to pay additional $20 per month to tether, so I didn't really go any further.

It is amazing how EASY it is to use a Kubuntu system. Definitely much simpler and cleaner than Windows, at least in my experience.

    Cheers, good work everyone!

Interesting. I have a Droid phone too. What does the "tethering" do?

You use the phone as a "modem". In other words, if you are in a place with no wifi, you can still connect to the Net. It's pretty awesome. But not worth shelling the extra $20 a month in my case.
