Guvcview is a fantastic webcam program.

I was using Cheese but I was having problems recording and I could not ever get audio working. I installed Guvcview and it works perfectly. Audio, recording everything works. It is a Gnome program but it works very well in Kubuntu 9.10.

You would have to install the ppa then you can find it with synaptic.

I've been using it a long time and it is a great program. But it only works with cameras that use the uvcvideo driver. That's most Logitech cameras. Check this web page to see if your camera is supported.

Yes, its a great program. It works when nothing else, including Skype does.
