Opening an appimage file

I have downloaded the LibreOffice “Still-Basic” appimage file. Double clicking on that file does not open it; instead, I’m told that “no application is installed for ‘Appimage application bundle files.’ ” So my question is: “What application should I install that will open the aforesaid appimage file”?

Right click on the file and make sure it is marked as executable.

Many to most appimage files need this to be set, on purpose.

open a terminal, navigate to where the file is and run

chmod +x <name_of_file.AppImage>

That'll make it executable. Then run it like this:

./<name_of_file.AppImage>&>/dev/null &

I put a link in my ~/bin/ directory so I can run from anywhere too.

Please don't make an entire post in 36 point font. It makes the post harder to read and will likely turn some users away from helping.

oshunluvr, I just looked at my post's font size, and I agree with you--it's way too small. I never have set a font size on this forum. How it got that small is beyond me. I'll be sure and check the font size from now on. It seems that only 4 font sizes exist. They are 8, 9, 10, and default. Of those 4, default is the largest. I chose default this time!

It is normal, now. It was Giganticbefore someone reduced it down

The forum software's default font size (as seen here in most of this post) is a LOT smaller than other platforms, for sure. Most every place that uses it has teensy fonts (linuxquestions, ubuntuforums, etc.) I myself have to zoom the page on these to 120%.

However, there are more font sizes available than what you see -- scroll on the drop down to see more of them.

Re the 36 point font: I have written 5 books with Libre Office. One of them is a 40 chapter book on Einstein. All 5 of my books are written in 11 point font. Where the 36 point font came from is beyond me.

No one is upset about it. I just wanted to let you know I didn't think posting like that was a good idea if it was intentional. It also occurred to me the possibility that some browser setting on your end made it look differently. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have said anything at all.
