My brother asked me toTinstall Kubuntu on his laptop and wipe Windows. The splash screen shows it is a Republic Of Gamer's MOBO. I found an option for fast boot and disabled it. I think it's EFI. Every time I try to install it says it can not unmount /from. There is no cdrom drive on this computer. Info center says it is ASUSTek COMPUTER INC. Product Strix 17 GL703GE.

The .iso format, ("iso" is from ISO 9660) was originally intended to be written to a CD-ROM. In booting an iso from something else (like a USB drive) it pretends to be a cdrom.Originally posted by steve7233 View Post

I wonder why I didn't notice this. It is installed now but when booting before Kubuntu gets going errors are concerning the bios like like something that is already created and some other errors. Eventually, Kubuntu boots, but if I try to update from Discover, it fails and never asks for the password. I had to update from the terminal as it did ask for the password. I don't know if Discovers update got fixed.
