Problem with root authentication in KDE

Hi all,
I seem to be having quite a strange problem. Whenever I need to use a program which requires root access rights, eg. partition manager, a window asking for root password appears, but before I can make any action, e.g. enter password, the window closes. No errors in konsole when run gtom terminal.
Hope someone can help.
