    Apt-Cacher-Ng and older versions

I am experimenting with a server based on E-box. It looks very well and most things also works without any problems. BUT -

On my other setup, I was running Apt-Cacher-Ng and it has so far worked extremely well. But as E-box is only running on LTS versions of Ubuntu, the existing base is 8.10, and someone said that the version of Apt-Cacher-Ng is not stable for it. Of course, as soon as the 10.04 version is out, there will be a new version of E-box based on this. In the mean time, would it be better to run the cache off of my laptop and only update while I have it running? It is absolutely manageable as we only have a handful of systems running here...

My only concern is how it will affect my laptop to have it running in the background - running 9.10 now with KDE 4.3.5 on a Core2duo 2GHz.
