    Resize Desktop folder on desktop

I have a folder on my desktop (confusingly) named Desktop. How can I resize it? The usual convention of clicking on a corner or border and dragging the corner or border using the mouse doesn't seem to apply. I can get a small window to pop off to the side. That small window has an icon whose effect is to enable me to move the Desktop window, but nothing that I can find for resizing.

This ought to be pretty simple, but I'm stymied.

You just click and hold on the the square box (little icon at the top of the list of three) and move your mouse to resize the folder.
