Ever since the upgrade to Karmic, Amarok and my Ipod (8GB nano, 5th gen.) haven't gotten along at all.
The morning after the upgrade, I added a few new songs to my Ipod the same way I had previously. The only noticeable difference was that it took longer than transferring music usually does. When I plugged my Ipod in at work, Itunes popped up an error message telling me "Itunes cannot read the contents of the Ipod." I have to restore it to factory settings and lose this copy of my music library. Sucky, but whatever.
With a clean Ipod, I go back to Amarok (I've done this with 2.2.1 and now 2.2.2) and copy the desired files to the Ipod. The transfer "works" since I can see that the file space is being taken up with something and the file count continues to increase. Even when browsing the Ipod in Dolphin, I can see the files are present on the Ipod and I can play them fine from there. However, when I eject and disconnect, my Ipod shows 0 songs present although it shows that the space is occupied. I've tried using gtkpod as a workaround and the result was the same: files were transferred to the Ipod and could be browsed in Dolphin. When disconnected, no files could be found within the Ipod. Reconnecting to either a Windows or Mac -based install of Itunes leads to the same error message above.
The only "successful" workaround I've managed is by installing songbird (1.2.0). I can use it to add music to the Ipod that can be played independently or attached to Itunes. The problem there is that I don't much care for the program and there are certain songs it will simply refuse to copy to the Ipod. Rather than having to settle for second best with songbird, I want to be able to use Amarok.
I've tried purging and doing a fresh install of Amarok but nothing has worked. I'm getting pretty frustrated by my lack of success and don't know what to do next. Can anyone help?
