    amarok and incomplete collection scan

I haven't been able to find this problem discussed in these forums which leads me to think that it is something peculiar to my installation. I have also been unsuccessful in finding clues in google searches.

Amarok 2.2.1 won't finish scanning my collection of about 22,000 music files. It scans about 900 files and then quits. If I try to rescan then Amarok locks up and has to be killed. Amarok still plays files just fine. Except for the glitch with collection scanning, everything seems to work perfectly.

Any and all help will be much appreciated.

Re: amarok and incomplete collection scan

If you start the Amarok from the konsole, with the command:
    Code:
    amarok --debug
    What is the output ?
    Are there error messges ?

Have you tried to add the files by piecemeal ? 800- 900 files at the time.

    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Re: amarok and incomplete collection scan

I poked & prodded & tried adding files to my collection as suggested. As it turns out, the problem was with a file in largish collection (~700) of mp3's. After excluding that directory, amarok finished scanning. I made a go at finding the offending file(s) but I got to be rather tedious and annoying. And, since I didn't like most of the music in the directory any longer, I simply deleted it.
