    [USER-Solved] Synaptic doesn't theme properly

I'm a little cranky that Synaptic doesn't use the GTK+ theme like other gnome apps... what gives? Especially since KPackageKit isn't up to task yet, I would have thought some time would have been put into this issue that has been around for a couple of releases now.

Is this what you are looking > How to make Synaptic look native?:

Copy the gtkrc-2.0-kde4 from your home directory to the /root/ with name gtkrc-2.0 so the "root" can use the QtCurve.

      =>
      Code:
      sudo cp .gtkrc-2.0-kde4 /root/.gtkrc-2.0

Yeah, I imagine, but with no non-commandline method of adding apps in karmic, shouldn't this really be fixed out of the box by now? Why are users left having to do this?

I guess every time someone here suggests installing synaptic they should also include that line of code since our distro opted not to do that for us.

Yes, it would be nice. Maybe a package synaptic-kde (as with the openoffice.org-kde):

Sorry Rog for not including that link in my initial whining... I did know about the fix but was being a bit stubborn about it since it really annoys me. Thanks for cleaning up my thread for other users who find this post.

              Sure you looked for .gtkrc-kde4?

                  Sorry .

                  I should have wrote:

Copy the hidden file .gtkrc-2.0-kde4 (note the dot !) from your home directory to the /root/ with name .gtkrc-2.0 (note the dot !) so the "root" can use the QtCurve.

Re: [USER-Solved] Synaptic doesn't theme properly

                      Are there differences if you:

                      Removing the /root/.gtkrc-2.0.

Alt+F2 and kdesudo synaptic. The First Synaptic starts.

Alt+F2 and synaptic. The Second /1/ Synaptic starts.

They are looking like this at here:

The left is using the GTK theme (root) and the right is using the QtCurve (a user).

/1/ Starting the Synaptic as an ordinary user:
                      Starting without administrative privileges

You will not be able to apply any changes. But you can still export the marked changes or create a download script for them.

It is annoying that it doesn't take the changes that had been applied via the System Settings, i.e. I still get that AWFUL thin scroll bar even though I had fixed it before copying the file...
