Kubuntu 9.10 - KDE 4.3 Inserted USB or Media....

Is there any way to make KDE 4.3 in Kubuntu 9.10 behave like the KDE 3.5 series as to when a device is plugged in and or Media inserted into an optical drive to show up on the desktop (not device notifier) so then I can open it and select what to do with it?

What if your desktop was covered, which is probably most of the time if you are doing things? You then have to click the "Show the Desktop" icon to see the device icon on the desktop.

Wouldn't clicking on the device in the Device Notifier dialog be the same as clicking on the device icon setting on a desktop? And, when you are ready to remove the device wouldn't it be a lot easier just to hover the mouse over the device in the Device Notifier dialog until the unmount icon appears and click on it?

If only Device Notifier would work correctly for me.

I wouldn't be asking this question.

Also, I do change the desktop to folder view and normally isn't clogged with folders.
