Re: Kubuntu to Kubuntu printer and sharing

    Hi All,

I can now connect to 1 computer using samba. I had to start konqueror then smb:://192.168.1.**
it then connected and I could set up remote printing.

But when I try to access the other Kubuntu computer using the same method I get a "time out on server"
    message.

    Any Help appricated

Bye the Way this all worked using 9.04

Re: Kubuntu to Kubuntu printer and sharing

so you have two printer servers?

On the samba server you are trying to access, I would first make sure the "samba" package is installed. Then, look at the samba config in system settings ... HTH!

BTW: I am having the same crash in all my computers (I am sure it must be reported in launchpad)

One more thought, early in the Karmic life I had to use the proposed-updates to update amba to newer packages, and that allowed me to fix Samba (broken in the upgrade)

Re: Kubuntu to Kubuntu printer and sharing

Thanks Imilano Have to check out the PPA.

The computer that was upgrade is the print server. when I go from that computer and try to access the
computer that I did a fresh install on I get the Time out Error. Samba package is installed on both.
The new installed smb.conf was restored from a backup copy from 9.04.
I can access the both from Winxp but using 9.10 cannot access the computer that has fresh 9.10 installation and of course using remote causes Dolphin to crash.

Excellent, keep in mind it's not a PPA, it is one of the Update channels in the Update tab of KPackageKit (namely "Pre-release updates"). I am not sure, though, there is any samba stuff there, these packages might have made it to the regular update repository already)

Hi , I have found the problem. when I restored my smb.conf file from backup the permissions changed.
