First of all, sorry for posting here directly. I have no idea what to search for to find if my problem has been posted here before. A search for 'xsession' didn't return anything related.
I think my problem is best described by an image:

I can still execute some actions and when I logout or start a new xsession all is well again, until the next time my screen turns all mixed up again.
How can I find out what's happening and more importantly, how do I fix this?

GeForce 9800 GTX with driver version 180
