I did an update 2 days ago and was told that I my administrator rights had been removed. I can now only right to files that are on my machine and I can open files but to copy them to other media such as a flash drive or cd are forbidden saying that I do not have sufficient rights.
I am the only user on this machine and the update evidently did this because I did not want my modified grub changed by the automatic update. I have tried the following commands with the given results:
thetiny1@thetiny1-laptop:~$ sudo kcontrol
[sudo] password for thetiny1:
sudo: kcontrol: command not found
thetiny1@thetiny1-laptop:~$ cd /root
bash: cd: /root: Permission denied
thetiny1@thetiny1-laptop:~$ su
Password:
su: Authentication failure
thetiny1@thetiny1-laptop:~$
thetiny1@thetiny1-laptop:~$ kdesu kcontrol
bash: kdesu: command not found
thetiny1@thetiny1-laptop:~$
Any Ideas on what I can do to correct this? I am using a Compaq nx9600 and I do use this machine as a duel boot with XP-Pro which I must use in some business functions unfortunately.
Thanks for the help in advance.
