Ethernet controller is not detected.

hi all, currently I am using Acer Aspire 4736G and my Atheros AR8131 PCI-Gigabit Ethernet Controller is not detected in Kubuntu 9.04. Please advise.

Try sudo ifconfig eth0 up and then see if it works. Just ruling out that the ethernet controller is turned off, for whatever reason.

I tried and it shows : eth0: error fetching interface information : Device not found.

OK, I'm afraid I can't help you with anything else, as I don't know enough... but at least the error is known now.

I searched Ubuntu forum and got nothing on either your laptop or your Atheros chip. Hmmmmmm.

Open a Konsole window and enter

lspci -vv

and post the output (the paragraph that begins with "Ethernet controller ...") here, please.

Anyway, I am able to find the patch of atl1c. can someone please advise me how to patch it?
