Would love to get Amarok to use Jack!

I am trying to find a way to use Jack with Amarok. Any ideas?

I have tried to find a way to do that as I am using a very nice audio board (REM Hammerfall optical out) for some other things.

The ideal thing would be to route everything out to that audio board. I guess that would require some kind of Xine to Jack? Or ALSA to Jack? I have been searching a lot for this and can only find topics dating 2 or more - up to 4-5 years back. Searching for some of the software mentioned in these threads do not give any results and I do not dare use any of the guidesas they are too old.

Do anyone know about something fairly recent on this topic? Or maybe have a clear guide on how to get things working?

Hi, you're right about "Xine to Jack" if you are using Xine-backend for Amarok. I think you should install libxine1-misc-plugins package for routing. Then you'll have to choose JackAudio under Default Output Device Preference in Amarok settings.

Yet you may still have some trouble routing all applications to Jack Audio properly, that's why the package pulseaudio-module-jack (which is a system-wide approach) seems to be absent in the repos. I don't know if debian-sid package pulseaudio-module-jack does the job very well , it may break compatibility as well. Interestingly, someone seems to make it here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=789578&page=122 have no idea how he made it tough
