KompoZer & Quanta Plus problem [SOLVED]

I am running the fully updated version of Kubuntu Jaunty 64 bit.

When using KompoZer & Quanta Plus both programs crash when accessing some of the menu buttons/links.

This does not happen with any other program.

Also with KompoZer when I use the Alt key with the appropriate letter for the menu function button I have no problems.

Any idea what could be the problem?

I can't help with your KompoZer problem, but i've occasionally asked for Quanta help here: quanta@mail.kde.org - there are also some FAQs linked to on the home page: http://quanta.kdewebdev.org/

Thanks for both replies.

I am trying out bluefish right now and appears to be problem free.

Appreciate the help.

Another good one is Komodo Edit, the community edition that is free and open source. I was looking for a decent Linux editor with good code completion on a number of different file formats. I tried Bluefish and liked Komodo a little more. Both are gtk apps. I still haven't found a decent native KDE app that supports qt4. Quanta is still stuck on qt3.

I know you marked this thread solved, but the real solution to your question about Kompozer I think is that:
If you run version 0.7.10 from repository, you need version 0.8 from the address http://sourceforge.net/projects/kompozer.

I installed project version of kompozer on Jaunty in May (kompozer-20090206.tar.gz) and it seemed to work fine. Now I tried it and I see it really died off, sorry.
But I didn't try 4 newer versions on http://sourceforge.net/projects/kompozer.

Re: KompoZer & Quanta Plus problem [SOLVED]

I have a new information about Kompozer.

I installed the last project version from http://kompozer.net/zip/ (it is neccessary only to unpack the archive tar.gz and make an icon to start it with the file kompozer) and I found that an information on the bug page https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...er/+bug/263441 is true:
it remains usable pending a fix: the crash does not occur when accessing the menus through keyboard shortcuts, only with the mouse.
So it didn't die off.
