    Audacity export question (Solved)

    Hi,
I have a fresh install of Jaunty Kubuntu.
Am trying to save a sound file from Audacity using the Export command but can't figure out how to do it.
When I click on File -> Export or File -> Export Selection, a new screen pops up that is named: Edit Metadata. I have included a screenshot of this screen.
I do not see a button anywhere that allows me to save the file as a mp3 or wav file.
Can you tell me how to save a sound file as a wav file using Audacity?
    Thanks.

    Re: Audacity export question

I'll try -- it's been awhile since I worked a lot with audacity.

Assuming you have suitable LAME and FFmpeg libraries as required in Edit>Preferences>Import/Export, open your .aup or .wav file in Audacity. Edit>Select>All. File>Export Selection brings up your "Edit Metadata" dialog window. Suppose you don't want to enter any metadata -- just click "OK" and you go to whatever directory Audacity thinks might be a good one to save in. I think it will default to your ~/home/user directory the first time, but ever after it will remember the last one you used. In the lower right of that window is a drop-down menu, and all the file types that you are able to use are listed there. So you can click "MP3" and that is the file formant that your file will be exported to. Just give it a name in the upper window, if you don't want it to remain the same as it previously was, and then click "Save" and it will be exported.

    Hope this helps.
