    some problems after recent upgrade

I have upgraded from Kubuntu 8.04 and almost everything went fine. Still there are some struggles I don't really understand.

    - First of all I'm not able to change the desktop design. I installed a few new layouts but selecting them does nothing.
    - I've had installed new symbols (Korilla 1.3.5) and apps like kate are a complete mess - nothing but monkeys... no button is right
    - lastly kate itself doesn't remember the terminal add-on I enable (still it feels strange that I even have to do so). Everytime I open it, I have to enable it again...really annoying!

    regards,
    thomas

It doesn't remember the sidebar position either, or recently opened files. Does it do that for you (unless you're using a previously saved sessions)? (My Kate woes: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3103939.0)
