    VLC and AMAROK (SOLVED)

    Hi

After my upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04, VLC and Amarok stopped work.
    VLC:
It was working after upgrade, but there was a problem when it was maximized, so I unninstall it and tried to install again. Now I get an error that "depends of VLC-NOX will not be installed" Damaged packages.
    How to solve this?

    Amarok:
I can install it, but when I'm going to use it, it says that I need some codecs and prompt me to install them. I click install and it keeps asking for instalation.
If I open Amarok e select some musics for the list, I can't even drag them there.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks

What you should do is open a terminal and run
      sudo aptitude update
      When that completes run
      sudo aptitude -f install vlc amarok w32codecs non-free-codecs libavcodec-unstripped-52

The message of VLC, was also given at the Konsole, but I'll give it a shot.

When doing the sudo aptitude update:
Erro GPG: http://ppa.launchpad.net jaunty Release: As seguintes assinaturas não puderam ser verificadas porque a chave pública não está disponível: NO_PUBKEY F7F7C321285197C5
W: Você terá que executar apt-get update para corrigir estes problemas

Translation: .... The public key it's not available: NO_PUBKEY.....
W: You'll have to execute apt-get update to correct these problems.

With apt-get update, I get the same error.

          Thanks

I don't know which ppa repository you were using but the odds are good that you do not need it anymore, after a fresh upgrade to Jaunty. Probably your best bet is to comment it in you /etc/apt/sources.list or in its own file in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/. If you know that you still want it you should get the GPG key and install it so it will work without bothering you.

To get your system straight , comment that repository, run
            sudo aptitude update
            sudo aptitude -f full-upgrade
and then install the things you want.

              Thanks Mando_Hacker

With your tips I could finnaly solve my problem.
There's still a tiny problem with VLC, that opens 2 windows when seeing a video, one with the video (X11 output) and another with the stop/play, etc commands.
For now I'll say that this topic is SOLVED
