Considering installing MySQL - any problems?

I really want to run Krecipes and it seems the only way is to use MySQL. I am very used to MySQL because of the websites I make, but have never considered running it on my laptop until now.

So... does it add too much load on the processor? How about RAM? I would like to keep things as efficient as possible as that also keeps the temp down.

And while I am on that topic - is there a good KDE GUI for MySQL? I am very used to phpMySQL, but that would also require a web server and it feels like I am on my way to a full server install

I just installed apache, mysql, php5 yesterday. It's amazingly easy these days. Almost 100% of the configuration is done during install.
