    Kopete and Logitech Quickcam Express

    Hi,

I just wonder how to get my Logitech Quickcam Express to work with Kopete.
Kopete uses the spca561 driver, which seems to be the correct driver, but I
get no picture in Kopete. Do I have to use v4l instead ? Any Ideas ?

I have a built-in Logitech webcam in my XPS M1210 laptop. When trying to check the camera in Kopete, there is some kind of reaction, but the picture is just distorted lines. So I need to figure out where to configure the camera and maybe getting the correct driver for it.

I found some more info here:

      http://www.quickcamteam.net/software...cam-usb-driver

I wish there was a way to install qc-usb without having to compile source code. I did a search for qc-usb in KpackageKit (is there another name for this app - typing that name over and over is tiring... :-) ) and the only hits I got was for the source code...

        Hi,

I also found something interesting 'bout the driver, but this one is the free gspca Driver from http://mxhaard.free.fr
The driver is available under Kpackagekit as gspca-source.
I'll try both of the drivers tomorrow, with a little more time, so I'll see which one will work.

          Hi,

I have the same problem here. No webcam in Kopete, but when I use Skype it works. So it must be a bug in Kopete I guess.

I've installed Skype today but skype hangs up when I try to test the webcam ...
I've tried to install the proprietary Logitech driver, but I have to compile a new
Kernel and I don't have the time for that right now, maybe the open drivers gspca
            will do better ... ?
