Fresh install on 9.04, getting no sound when viewing flash vids, I get system sounds and can hear music fine but no flash vids, I'm wondering if I can hear any videos
Did you check your audio mixer? Right-click on the speaker-looking icon, then "Show Mixer Window." Then, select "Mixer." Make sure PCM is turned up. I briefly had this problem myself, and this was the cause of it.

Just install kubuntu restricted extras, and after that open kmix (lower right of the screen) option, in mixer, increase PCM volume as loud as you needed, hope this will help you..
