New user install and no sound

    New user install and no sound

    I'm brand new at linux.
    I just loaded the newest version of Kubuntu and I've found i have no sound on anything (web radio loads but on sounds, youtube video play no sound ect.)
    When i load Amarok i get "xine was unable to initialize any audio drivers"
    perhaps something stupid I've (or have not) done but i can find any other threads recently posted with the same problem.
    Thanks for any help!

      AH, thanks a bunch.
      That was an excellent site.
      But it turns out my card
      SB x-fi
      is not supported by alsa...... any suggestions? or an i waiting until it is supported?
