Once you have converted it to Mpeg proper, there are a number of DVD authoring tools you can use to create the DVD.

Re: How to burn MOD video
Okay, so you've converted it to an ordinary mpeg? First, just check it plays first in mplayer/kaffeine etc. Now you could simply burn that to a DVD with K3b, but you would only be able to play that on your PC. Assumig you want to play it on a home DVD player, you need a DVD authoring tool as the mpeg needs to be converted to a different file-system (transcoding I think they call it).
Examples are:
Devede
http://www.rastersoft.com/programas/devede.html
Thet will create a DVD without menus
QDVDauthor (one of a series of front-ends for DVDauthor)
http://qdvdauthor.sourceforge.net/
KMediafactory (another front-end for DVDauthor)
http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=20121
Looking at the links, if you want a DVD with a menu, I'd go for QVDVauthor as too much appears to have gone out of kmediafactory to make it compatible with KDE4.
Once the "authoring" is done, the DVD will then be burned with K3b, automatically I think.
So you have choice here, have a play around and see which produces the best results for you.
Hope this helps

Re: How to burn MOD video
Yes I've converted it to mpeg and able to play with mplayer, and I got the same error you mention with K3b, but it just gave up burning, I even tried Nero Linux but it doesn't recognize the file at all, the closest I can get is with ManDVD, but it complain missing silent.mpa. I will try your suggest to see what comes thanks a lot !

Re: How to burn MOD video
Yes it has firewire, but the video in question is no longer on the camera, I already move it to the PC for making DVD, and I don't do much editing, in the long run I would feed the video to the home dvd recorder to burn the disc and bypass the PC, I am not an av pro just want to get the job done, and it seems Linux still has a long way to the studio.Do you Yahoo ? Re: How to burn MOD video
I suspect that Windows software came with the camera so if you didn't have it you may well be facing a similar problem even in Windows-land.
If you have firewire, and can play RAW DV through it, here's what I would do in the future - it's what I do with my Sony DV camcorder:
Upload RAW DV straight from the camera with Kino. You can then edit it, a frame at a time if you want. Each time you paused during the record will create a separate Chapter - you can swap orders if you like. Then when you are happy with the output you then export it to DVD-quality MPEG. You then have a pretty high quality MPEG which you can then author. Beware though, Raw DV files are huge!
Windows Movie-Maker does pretty much the same thing (in one go I might add but I never figured out how to edit properly) but I didn't get anything like the same result.
On the case in point I actually think that if you have converted to standard mpeg you are much closer than you think.

Re: How to burn MOD video
I lost the windows s/w that's why I've to go thru' all the pain, I've done some editing via firewire before so I know what you mean, and I guess I've successfully converted it to standard mpeg, I can play it with mplayer no problem, it is only that the file not ready for burning dvd yet.Do you Yahoo ? Re: How to burn MOD video
The thing about the pain is that you only need to go through it once, the second time it won't be painful.
Assuming your file is now in MPEG-2 format, you ought now to be able to convert it to vob which is what a DVD uses.
I think the issue may be that ManDVD might not be what you need. It's a self-contained package, in that you can simply download/extract and run, but I'll bet it's success depends upon a load of other packages already being there. I have previously tried to use it and have failed every time.
A better strategy would be to use one of the applications available from your package manager. Take tovid for example. when you install that with the package manager you will see you install a lot of other things required in the process. ManDVD won't do this, and any one of those missing packages could result in failure.
My recommendation is that if you want to create a DVD with menus you could do with Qdvdauthor, or kmediafactory, both of which I have known to work, or if you will only have 1 film on it and you just want to slap it in the DVD player and play it, then devede will be the best option. All these ought to convert the file for you.
Hope this helps
