Lightning not functional in Thunderbird

I installed Thunderbird from the Intrepid repositories and then added the latest version of Lightning manually. Whenever I go to the calendar page, all event and calendar functions are greyed out and non-functional. I tried backing up .mozilla-thunderbird and starting clean, but that makes no difference. Anybody have any clues on how to get Lightning to work here?

Using Lightning from the repositories didn't help either.

The people at Mozillazine gave the answer. Lightning depends on libstdc++5. I installed that from the repos and everything works now.
