    Screen flickers when typing

Strange problem now that I have upgraded to Intrepid. When I type, I get horizontal black lines flickering in random locations on my screen. How do I fix this?

I've ruled out physical vibration causing the problem (by holding my keyboard off my desk and typing).

I'm currently using the nv drivers.
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (yes Gnome) with upgrades applied daily about 0900 UK time. Hardware is Dell Precision 420, 2x 800 MHz PIII, 512 MB RDRAM, nVidia GeForce 6800 128 MB AGP graphics, 18GB SCSI and 500GB IDE HDDs, DVD burner, Hauppage TV card.

Have you tried disabling the RANDR service?

System settings -> Advanced -> Service manager

      Makes no difference.

I've also tried changing the resolution and the refresh rate, again to no avail.

        I've encountered the same problem.
To the OP: If you've solved this, please write how you did that.
Any other ideas besides RANDR, which didn't work for me either?

        Thanks
