How do I download / install widgets from the Internet?

Hi,

I am running 8.10. I can put widgets on the desktop but only those that are already installed and listed when I right click and select "Add Widgets".

When I select install widgets from the internet there is nothing there to install, as it doesn't appear to be connecting to anywhere on the net to get them from.

How can I direct the Add Widget > Install Widget > From the internet option to download widgets from the net?

Hope someone pops in here. I have the same thing going on with the widgets, I figured I already have all that's available for now.

Plasma's components are widgets called Plasmoids. Plasmoids can take on a variety of functions, ranging from displaying your desktop and associated wallpaper, showing your laptop's battery level, displaying your plugged in devices, and drawing the taskbar: basically, they are small applications that live on the desktop. Does this mean that there are plans for them to be directly downloadable in the future? (Saying that, I guess they wouldn't have the option if it wasn't going to happen one day).

It seems that today was the one day...

hmm - is this working ? It seems to download, to the /var/tmp/kdecache-<USER>/http/d/ BUT that's all.

I had the same thing. I selected the Amarok Widget, it downloaded but there is no widget either on my screen or to select from the widgets menu.

Perhaps a few updates later and it will all be working....fingers crossed.
