smb performance on 8.10

Hi all

I just tried to copy a 2GB file from a Windows share and got the stunning transfer rate of 6k/sec. Thinking the problem might be Vista I copied the file to another SMB share on a Debian box. This went at the speed I expected. Then I tried to copy from the Debian share (still using SMB) with the same result. At the current rate this should take about 4 days for the file to arrive!

Any ideas on where I should start.

Hmmm - got impatient so created a Samba share and did the copy from the Windows machine. It took about 3 minutes (and the original copy started from Kubuntu is still running.
