    installing intrepid without gui?

    Hi,

    I have the kubuntu 8.10 alternative cd iso, how do you install with the simple (ncurses like) interface instead of the bloated ubiquity full gui version?

    I would use debian to do this. What is the point of using Kubuntu if you don't want KDE??

      Boot with the alternate CD. After language selection there should be a text:
      Press F4 to select alternative start-up installation modes
      =>
      Install a command-line system

        My apologies,

        I obviously want the kde desktop, what i meant was the install interface-can you get the old style ncurses text like install instead of 'ubiquity' the full on gui install interface?

          If you're using the Alternate CD, just select the 'install' option from the boot menu (the alternate cd doesn't have the gui installer)

            yes this seems to work fine with the debian like installer, however there is something wrong on all those alternate iso files.
            During the installation, it tries to install WVdial, but it can not find it and so the installation stops there. All attempts, with ubuntu, kubuntu different versions stopped exactly at the same place.
