unable upgrade from kubuntu 8.04.2 to 8.10

    hi,
i have been using kubuntu 8.04 for quite a while now but i still consider myself a newbie. I have been trying to upgrade it to 8.10. I followed the upgrade instructions on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...grades/Kubuntu but there is some problem.
I simply don't see the distribution upgrade button in adept_manager.
i admit i am not comfortable with adept manager. Can anyone please show me the way out, using command prompt?

In 8.04, what version of KDE are you using - 3.5.x or 4.0 (remix)?

          Post your /etc/apt/sources.list for review.

Nothing wrong with your sources.list file. Because you are running KDE 4.0.x Remix, you need to pay attention to what is presented after you press Alt+F2 and type:
              kdesudo "adept_manager --dist-upgrade-devel"
It must be typed exactly as shown above, to include the quotes. Click the Launch button.

Have you tried to start your session with KDE 3.5? I did saw the upgrade button on 3.5

kdesudo "adept_manager --dist-upgrade-devel" now is working, with "Version upgrade" button enabled. (not sure what was going wrong earlier). But the moment i opt for it and press next, the adept manager crashes. So is there no other way to version upgrade than using adept manager?
                  This is the crash report
                  Does it make any sense?
