what is the default mounting of cdroms/dvdroms in kubuntu 8.10

When you insert a DVD in your DVDROM drive, what mountpoint do you get and what kind of owner and group attributes do you get for the files on the dvdrom?

On my computer, I get the mountpoint /media/cdrom (which again points to /media/cdrom0) - and all the files are mounted as root owner, root group - which results in some problems when copying stuff to a directory on a hard drive as an ordinary user (not allowed to change permissions).

Is this standard kubuntu or something gone wrong on my computer?

my dvd rw shows up as /media/cdrom (and there is also that cdrom0).
while the files on the disk are owned by root, when i copy them (to ~/desktop) owner is now "chris".
