How can I set username/passwd in proxy settings?

In system settings I've got proxy setting in network setting which seems to work for all KDE-based applications.

However, it seems that the username/passwd input box is grayed out and I cannot set proxy authentication globally. If there's a new KDE-based application needs network connection the dialog will pop-up to prompt for user input.

    Anyway work around?

    Are you in "Administrator Mode"?

I apologize, I just tried manual settings and things are grayed out for me also!

      Infact, if I edit ~/.kde/share/config/kioslaverc

      and set AuthMode=1

I can set the username and passwd, however the "Apply" button will gray out and I cannot apply that settings.

Is this a kubuntu specific issue or common to kde3?
