    Problem editing file

I use powernowd to control CPU freq.

I am trying to edit the following 2 files.

    /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq

    /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq

No matter what I do I am unable to edit it or if I edit it I am unable to save edited version.

    (1) Have tried accessing via Konqueror and using "edit as root"
    (2) Have started Konqueror as root and tried to edit.
    (3) Have started Kate as root via command line.

Any help most welcome - thanks!

Here's where you went wrong, I suspect. From your desktop, do Alt-F2 "kdesu kate" with no quote marks, and then give your root password. When she's open, browse to your /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/....... file and open it.

However, are you sure you wouldn't be better off using kpowersave? Just a suggestion. I haven't done what you're attempting to do. Good luck, and if it works out well enough to brag about, please post your method and results for the rest of us.

Thanks for response. Did try that earlier - method (3) above. Results are same; file does not save even though edit is permitted. I suspect the file has some edit/write function prevention in force.

When I use that instead of Powernowd, Kima does not show freq of both cores in dual core system. Just overall CPU freq. Also does not appear to utilize full stepping range of CPU when using either powersave or dynamic options.

      Regards.
