"open with" problem

Hi there.

I recently installed kubuntu 8.04 on my system and upgraded to kde 4.1.2. My problem is that whenever i install a new application (adept, synaptic, terminal), i can't find a shortcut in the right click menu to run it.
For example i installed sun-java6-jre and when i right click on a jar file i don't have the option to open it with jre. Of course i can make it run automatically with (sun-java6-java command) but should't my system recognize the file from it's extension? The same thing happens whether i am using konqueror or dolphin.

I have that problem too, when i install something the icon doesn't appear in the menu list.
but there are too options you can do, 1. at the top of the menu, type in in search bar the applications name that you want to use, or 2. just logout from your account, wait a few seconds and then login again, it works for me.
