Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device or...

    Hey there,

I just installed the RC version of 8.04 to an older Sony Vaio I have. The installation went well and all, I loaded into the desktop then rebooted my computer a short moment after.

On reboot, I was presented with this error message:

"Reboot and select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media into Boot device"

I changed boot order in the BIOS to hard disk as first priority and that didn't do anything to help it. I'm thinking it has to do with the hard drive, but I'm not certain. Is there any work around for this if it is the hard drive?

Your BIOS does not see a device it can boot from: no bootable CD; no bootable hard drive; no bootable nothing.

Sometimes if the boot flag on a hard drive is not set, then you'll get this error.
Sometimes you get the error if you don't setup BIOS correctly (to boot from some drive that is bootable).

You can use GParted Live CD to see if there's a boot flag on your Kubuntu partition/drive. You can use GParted to set a boot flag, too (highlight the Kubuntu partition, select Partition (at the top), Manage Flag, boot).

Alright, I'll go try that and see if it works, thanks.
