    Getting a app starter in kde4 alpha?

    I am having a slight problem with my HH kde4 alpha install.

    I want to add a app starter to kickoff / kmenu. We can't do that yet with a gui and thwere is no kde3 to help with kmenu edit.

    Any ideas which files I have to edit?

    I know that the icons on the menu are just *.desktop icons that are located in a directory that is read by the menu. Here is an example for the qt-gtk style that I attempted to get working yesterday.

    The file is kdmgtk4.desktop
    Located in /usr/local/share/applications/kde4/

    [Dekstop Entry]
    Name=GTK Styles and Fonts
    Comment=Control the style and fonts used by GTK applications
    Exec=kcmshell kcmgtk4
    Icon=kcmgtk.png

    Encoding=UTF-8

    Type=Service
    X-KDE-ServiceTypes=KCModule
    X-KDE-Library=kcm_gtk4
    X-KDE-ParentApp=kcontrol
    Catergories=Settings;Qt;KDE;X-KDE-settings-looknfeel;
    X-KDE-System-Settings-Parent-Catergory=appearance

    I don't know how much this will help. I have created my own menu icons by first creating a desktop icon, then moving it into the menu.

      Thankx but that doesn't help.

      I want to create a app. launch entry pointing to a non-kde app.

      Specifically ~/spicebird-beta/spicebird

      But with your help I may be able to add the icons later
