Sorry - one more thread from me - but I've been setting up Kubuntu for some time, and I'm confident that these are last two hardware issues from me before everything's the way I like it.
I have no sound in any application - several browsers, Amorok, etc... The system volume is at max, as is the application's volume control, and there is no external volume control.
Any ideas? I've found several people who have the same problem and say they "finally managed to fix it", but they don't say how - except for things I have already tried.
Any thoughts? Thank you so much!
edit: It appears from further Google'ing that sometimes kernel updates cause this problem - I'm able to boot to kernel -19 and kernel -21 - neither of them works with sound. I don't recall intentionally updating kernels...
