APC status

Did a fresh install of 8.04. that fixed problems with mounting removable media.

I have an APC UPS. the apcaccess program communicates with the APC UPS through port 3551.

On 7.10 I was able through trial and error to enable port 3551.

I cannot remember how I did it and cannot locate anything to enable the port.

How do I enable port 3551 so that apcaccess can read the apc ups status and output a report??

Solution:

1: Network Information manager, NIS, wasn't installed - installed

2: copied working configuration file from backup to : /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf

3: apcupsd wasn't configured. edited file: /etc/default/apcupsd, changed last line from

ISCONFIGURED=no

to

ISCONFIGURED=yes

apcaccess now works again.
