    Printer Problem Suspect CUPS

My printer stopped working yesterday and when I went to system settings > printers > jobs then rt click & choose job IPP Report it says the printer is not connected. Kinfocenter > USB Devices shows the printer is connected and detects disconnect and reconnect. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers (I'm using Turboprint since my Canon iP3000 is not supported and the closest supported driver for an iP4000 does not yield satisfactory printing.) and have unistalled and reinstalled CUPS to no avail. The printer works fine in Windows and in Kubuntu Dapper on my other computer (also using the Turboprint drivers) I've been plugging away at this for a day and a half and getting nowhere. Anyone have suggestions? The problem started when I tried to print a document pasted into ooo-writer from a web page (I have never been able to print html pages properly in Linux) and writer crashed. Since then no can print.
