I have an Acer Aspire 5135 laptop running 7.10.
The laptop screen runs at 1280x800. It used to be that if I booted with an external LCD monitor connected, the KDE desktop would display on the external monitor at 1280x1024 (it would also display a clone of the desktop on the laptop LCD, at 1280x1024, but that's fine).
Lately, however, this only works every once in a while. More often, I now see the GRUB menu and Kubuntu splash screen on the external monitor, but when X starts, the external monitor goes blank and stays blank. The laptop's screen displays at 1280x1024 (too big for the screen).
Nothing in my xorg.conf has changed, so I assume this is due to a package update somewhere along the road.
I've tried searching for this problem here and elsewhere, but everyone seems to have dual-head/xinerama issues.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
