Hi
I am dual booting Gutsy with Windows XP. The Windows drive is ntfs on sda2.
I also have sda6 which is a FAT32 partition on which I have shared data (including mt T'Bird e-mail folders and the Windows my documents folder.
I also run Quicken and Irfanview with wine. sda2 is established as the c:\ drive with winecfg.
My problem is that once I run one of those programs with wine the HDD just won't stop turning over. The only way I can stop it is to kill the mountntfs -3g process within ksysguard. This seems to make sda2 unreadable from gutsy and whilst I can run Irfanview (as it has its own DLLs and doesn't need any of the windows ones) Quicken won't run at all. Changing /usr/lib/wine as the C:\ drive doesn't do it either. Other than this use I don't want to access sda2 from within gutsy as I use sda6.
Has anyone else encountered this thrashing drive problem and importantly does anyone know how I can fix it please?
Thanks
ian
