    Thinkpad t61 volume control buttons

    Hi.

I am having an issue of my volume control buttons not working. An on screen display comes up switching the volume between 0% and 11%, but there is really no volume change. I had this working before, but I had to reinstall Kubuntu, and I can't get the volume buttons to work again. This is me posting on the ubuntu forums about this problem:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=641476

I followed those steps again, but I still can not get the buttons to work. I believe this is the following bug:

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/136287

However, I did get the volume buttons to work properly. I have looked everywhere that I can think of to find what in KDE is binding the volume up and down keys to nothing, but I can't find anything. I tried programming the keys into kmix to control the master volume, but they do not control the master volume. But this is the funny thing, if I close kmix and press up or down, kmix will reopen and and the volume will not work.

So, where is kmix storing the keybindings for my volume buttons? I have looked in /home/<username>/.kde/share/config/ kmixrc and kmixctlrc but nothing is in those files.

EDIT: I just uninstalled kmilo and restarted. I tried the volume buttons, and they did not work. I then mapped them in kmix, and now they control the master volume. After a few more quick tests, the thinkpad keyboard light still works, the foward, back, stop, and play/pause buttons still work too. I do not however have the OSD that displays the volume percentage.
