    How do i get the slackware console messages on my kubuntu konsole?

    Uhh... I guess you could remotely access the Slackware logs and display them that way, but I have a feeling that's not what you mean...

    Could you clarify what you're trying to do?

      whoa...
      i just want to display message on konsole.. those funny/wisdom ones that we get when we login or open a shell
      i think its called fortune.. a bsd toy package

        Ah, I know exactly what you mean! I have mine set up to do that, as a matter of fact.

        Open up Adept Manager and search for "fortunes". Install the ones that sound interesting.
        Next, add "fortune -s" to the end of ~/.bashrc. From now on, you'll get a fortune when you log into a terminal or open a shell.
        (Feel free to remove the -s if you don't mind long ones appearing.)

          i had seen that package in adept
          but since the description wasnt as funny as the msgs.. i thought it wouldnt be it [:P]
