    Are Lexmarks really that bad?

My all-in-one HP printer is going to be replaced with a Lexmark X4270. From reading around i noticed that lexmarks are poorly supported. How is this? I always thought lexmarks were fairly popular and therefore would have drivers. And apparently my X4270 wont work but i noticed a X450 driver in CUPS. Has anyone tried this out?

If its thats poorly supported, ill try and keep my HP cause its awesome.

you're pretty much screwed if you get a lexmark. please do not if you plan on using a printer with linux. lexmark are a bunch jerks (to put it nicely) since they will not make linux drivers. and there are not many open source lexmark drivers, only several afaik.

Here's your link to the open source database of supported printers:

      http://openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi

I'll save you the anxiety -- your X4270 is not listed. There's an X4250 that says the printer driver "mostly" works, but not the scanner.
