How to make mike work in Skype?

I just installed Skype with the Adept-manager.

Everything works fine. Sound works also. But, try as I might, I cannot get the mike to do its job!

Tried every help hint, link and suggestion for Skype, and Kubuntu 7.10. No success.

Mike is set to recrod in KMix. Nothing!

Does anyone have a similar problem, know a solution or anything, please.

I am lost with on this one.

i had a similar problem, all i did was change my kmix parameters, i have the mic boost enabled, in input i have mic with the red button on and when i want to use it with the green one on as well and the volume all the way to the top. i remember that with 7.04 i had to configure it from gnome cause there was no way i could do it with kde

also i use the skype from their webpage and not from the medibuntu respository

Thank you for the input. I have the same settings now.

It also helped greatly to find the 'mute' button on the mike/headset combo.
      It was set to mute.

      I am embarrassed.
